On 7th May, in the Hall of Honour of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) in Rome, the representatives of Milano Cortina 2026 for sport, institutional and local matters, had a conference call with the International Winter Sports Federations, that were gathered in Brisbane for the traditional annual SportAccor summit.
The undersecretary for Prime Minister in charge of Sport, Giancarlo Giorgetti, and undersecretary Simone Valente reiterated the government’s support to the candidature. The following people attended the conference at Foro Italico in Rome: CONI President, Giovanni Malagò; Governors of Lombardia and Veneto regions, Attilio Fontana and Luca Zaia; the mayors of Milano and Cortina, Giuseppe Sala and Gianpietro Ghedina; the deputy mayor of Cortina, Luigi Alverà; the coordinator of the candidature, Diana Bianchedi; the secretary for Large Events at Lombardia Region, Antonio Rossi; the secretary for sport at Milano City Hall, Roberta Guaineri; the presidents of Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) and Italian Federation of Ice Sports (FISG), Flavio Roda and Andrea Gios, as well as the curators of the dossier and the venue managers.
During the call, a video voiced by the Olympic short track champion Arianna Fontana was screened to explain the project.
